GSIS urges members to settle past due accounts

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) reminded its members with past due loan accounts to immediately settle these.

Information Officer Ma. Victoria Bargas of GSIS Capiz said starting October 1, 2018, the agency will start collecting penalties and surcharges on past due loan accounts of members who are still in active service.

“One way to settle their past due loan accounts is to renew their Conso-loan through the Enhanced Conso-loan Plus program in order to condone the interest and surcharges,” she said.

Bargas added that the collection of penalties and surcharges will apply to all loans where amortizations were not paid for more than six months.

She said members having past due loan accounts should settle these either through their respective agency collection officer or directly with the GSIS office.

In a press release, GSIS President and General Manager Jesus Clint Aranas advised GSIS members to pay off their loans to enable them to avail of other GSIS benefits which are only available for those with no defaulted loans.

Aranas added that the Enhanced Conso-loan Plus is offered to ease the financial burdens and help the members enjoy their full benefits when they retire. (PIA-Capiz)
