THE City Treasurer’s Office-Land Tax Division of Bacolod City has collected an “unprecedented” P348 million in advance payment for 2018 real property taxes (RPT) in the month of December 2017 alone.
A report submitted by local treasury operations officer Arlene Memoria to Mayor Evelio Leonardia showed that the Land Tax Division has collected P348,062,948 in RPT from Dec 1 to 31, 2017.
The collection is P127,392,186, or 57.73 percent higher than the collection in the same period last year (Dec. 1 to 31, 2016) totaling P220,670,761.
In December 2015, the RPT collection was P237,954,453, while in December 2014, it was P217,580,716.
Still in December 2017, the Land Tax Division posted big RPT collections on several days.
On Dec 29 alone, the Land Tax Division collected P60 million, which is the biggest single-day collection for the first time ever, Memoria said.
The next biggest collection is P42 million on Dec. 31; P33 million – Dec. 26; P22 million – Dec. 20; P20 million – Dec. 28; P16 million – Dec. 22; P15 million – Dec. 18; and P13 million—Dec. 30.
Memoria said the December collections represent the bulk of the total RPT collection for the whole year.
Leonardia said the “overwhelming land tax payment” is a very positive indicator that business confidence is now restored under his administration.
“We wish to see that business confidence is restored and a climate conducive for business and industry to grow and prosper, is established,” he said.
“I would like to thank the public for their cooperation in our thrust of making Bacolod more business-friendly,” the mayor added. (PIO)
