ANTIQUE Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said more projects for Western Visayas will be funded by the Duterte administration.

In an interview with The Daily Guardian on Air via Aksyon Radyo-Iloilo on July 15, 2017, Cadiao, who also chairs the Regional Development Council (RDC-6), said it is easy for local government units to get funding for projects as long as the proposals are ready and the documents are complete.

For Antique, Cadiao said they have proposed the construction of farm-to-market roads that will provide access to far-flung barangays to the market.

“Kadamo kami mga malayo nga sitio. We will open these areas for civilization. We have already submitted a masterplan to the national government for its inclusion in the Build, Build, Build Program,” she said.

The province is also gearing towards improvement or opening of roads leading towards tourism sites as well as construction of regional evacuation centers.

“The road that will connect Iloilo, Antique and Aklan has already received a budget,” she said.

She said Antique has received almost P3 billion in infrastructure projects, improvement of hospitals, and construction of additional barangay classrooms.

Cadiao said the national government is also open to funding the improvement and rehabilitation of ports in the region.

RDC prioritizes three areas in the region such as Antique, Guimaras, and Northern Iloilo.

“The council perceives Iloilo to eventually become the economic tiger of the Visayas region,” she said.

During the RDC Advisory Committee meeting on May 9, 2016, Cadiao said the governors and mayors also proposed priority programs for their towns.

“In the next few days, the council will meet to find out which proposals from the region will be receiving budget,” she said.
