America: Unruly plane passenger arrested
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) β A Las Vegas man who yelled at crew members and passengers on a flight Monday will face a judge for public intoxication and cause an uproar.
According to a video taken by passenger Dennis Bush, he grew like a dog while removing and putting on his mask, made obscene gestures with his middle finger and shouted “God bless America” ββand “Joe Biden”.
The incident happened while on a flight from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. Bush reported on Facebook that the man verbally assaulted an Asian woman, saying that she and her partner “have no right to be here.”
The 61-year-old man was arrested and summoned at the door after he was discharged from the hospital, officials said. The court documents did not mention whether he had a lawyer.
American Airlines confirmed the incident in a statement, thanking the crew for their professionalism and their understanding to the passengers.
Unruly airline passengers have recovered $1 million in potential fines so far this year, a record high. The airlines had reported about 3,900 incidents by mid-August. According to the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), refusal to wear a mask was a common factor in 75% of cases and alcohol consumption.
