Afghanistan. – US reiterates its commitment to peace process to Afghan President

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, told Afghan President Ashraf Ghani of his country’s full support with the Afghan peace process at the time of the provisional end of hostilities due to the ceasefire declared by the Taliban on the occasion since the end of Ramadan.
Similarly, Blinken reiterated his condolences for the “horrific” attack on the girls’ school in Kabul last week, killing more than 60 people, most of whom were students.
According to the State Department statement, “The Secretary of State has shifted the United States’ strong commitment to an alliance with Afghanistan and its security forces.”
Finally, the two discussed the importance of “maintaining the national unity of Afghanistan at this time”, and highlighted the importance of regional efforts being made to advance the peace process.
