New payments in US will reach 98 percent of beneficiaries in December

Nearly 98% of American families who received aid for Kovid-19 last December will also be helped to reach the next batch of payments, promoted by President Joe Biden, according to a White House official.

Biden has said that Americans were promised direct payments of $ 2,000, but only 600 were approved in December. The president believes an important part of his $ 1.9 trillion aid plan that is pending in the Senate. Biden’s proposal includes $ 1,400 in additional payments on a scale below zero based on income, so that the money would be better for the middle class and the poor.

In the current Senate initiative, the Biden administration estimates that 158.5 million families will receive direct payments, with a White House official stating on the condition of anonymity not to comment on private conversations. The official insisted that almost all of them would receive a check for double the amount in December, although the 3.5 million homes that received some payments of the December plan’s 900,000 million would no longer be eligible.

The decrease is due to the stringent restrictions in the Senate bill over who can receive checks. The Biden administration wants to keep a promise made to voters, but does not want the notion that it sends money to the rich.

Under the Senate initiative, people with incomes up to $ 75,000 would be entitled to $ 1,400, but those earning $ 80,000 would be given nothing.

Couples earning up to $ 150,000 will also receive payment, but will be excluded if they have more than $ 160,000 in income.

However, families who do not receive direct payments can still benefit from the $ 1.9 trillion plan. The initiative expands tax credits for children and daycare, and those benefits will be extended to some households that received a check in December but are no longer eligible for new payments.
