The Danish economy contracted by 3.3% in 2020, nearly half of the European Union average

Copenhagen, February 26th (EFE). Denmark’s gross domestic product shrank by 3.3% in 2020 due to the crisis triggered by the coronavirus pandemic, the Office for National Statistics said Friday.

The decline is below the average in the European Union and the United States, 6.4 and 3.5%, respectively.

The numbers also improved “dramatically” expectations issued last year by the Danish economic authorities, which indicated a further decline after a decline of 7% in the second quarter.

After recession in the first part of 2020, the Danish economy recovered in the third quarter, up 4.9%, which was 0.6% in the last quarter, according to data released today.

However, the Office for National Statistics cautioned that the data is more insecure than usual due to the special circumstances related to the epidemic. EFE
