Max Strus 59-footer lifts Cavaliers over Mavericks
In a thrilling game last night, Max Strus of the Cleveland Cavaliers made a 59-foot buzzer-beater to secure a 121-119 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Strus had an incredible performance, making five 3-pointers in the final four minutes of the game.
The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse crowd erupted as Strus sank the game-winning shot and was tackled to the floor by his teammates. This impressive feat made Strus just the fourth player in the past 25 seasons to make five 3-pointers in the final four minutes of a game.
The shot also goes down in history as the second-longest game-winning buzzer-beater in the 3-point era. Donovan Mitchell praised Strus for his outstanding performance in the game, recognizing his crucial role in the Cavaliers’ victory.
Despite Luka Doncic’s impressive 45 points and 14 assists for the Mavericks, and Kyrie Irving’s 30-point contribution, the team fell short in the final moments of the game. Doncic was only one rebound shy of a triple-double in the matchup.
The loss marked only the second defeat for the Mavericks in their last 10 games. Additionally, Irving received a warm ovation from Cleveland fans in his first visit to the city since being traded to Dallas. The game was truly a display of talent and excitement, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer.
