Article 6 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican StatesIt states that “everyone has the right to free access to multiple and timely information, as well as to seek, receive and disseminate information and ideas of all kinds by any means of expression; likewise, the state will guarantee the right to information.” That is why the individual guarantee of access to public information must be strengthened; So that, through simple and quick procedures, public information can be obtained and government performance or omission assessed.

But what is the right of access to public information? It is the right of every person to freely request the information generated, administered or in its possession by the authorities, who are obligated to hand it over without having to prove any interest or justify its use; This human right can contribute to:

• Promote dialogue between society and the authorities: Dialogue with the authorities allows people to be informed and involved in public processes.

• Encourage decision making based on informed criteria: Making decisions based on informed criteria is not only for the benefit of people, but also helps organizations improve internal management processes.

• Improved access to procedures and services: Public information can trigger organizational improvements in terms of efficiency and productivity.

• Exploding accountability and fighting corruption: If, despite the advanced regulatory framework we have in terms of transparency, corruption remains a feature of government administration, the right to access information becomes a tool to combat it.

National Transparency InstituteINAI, access to information and protection of personal data, is the independent constitutional body that guarantees this right. It is an indispensable institution that allows all residents of Mexico to access public information from the executive, legislative and judicial branches and independent constitutional bodies, such as the National Electoral Institute (INE); As well as promoting a culture of transparency, public administration, government accountability to society, and appropriate handling of personal data to promote an inclusive and participatory society. In this sense, the obligations of the National Electoral Institute stipulated in this law are contained in Articles 70, 74 and 77 which refer to the unilateral publication of information relating to the faculties, powers, functions and institutional purpose of the Electoral Institute; Concerning the relationship of the Institute with the local general electoral bodies of the federal entities by another party, and documents related to trust funds, public funds, mandates or contracts established by the Institute.

Because of the above, the National Institute of Statistics and the National Institute for Nuclear Research, Worked together, with the aim of implementing actions and projects that allow proactive transparency, citizen participation, access to information, and accountability to be an essential tool for strengthening democracy for the state and that contribute to generating certainty and confidence in electoral processes.

National Electoral Institute The following platforms allow the public to take action regarding transparency and access personal information and data:

National Transparency Platform (www.plataformadetransparencia.org.mx). In this space you can refer to information about: a) information access requests; b) requests for access, correction, cancellation and opposition to personal data; c) Management of means of appeal. d) Gates of commitment to transparency and e) The communication system between the guarantors and the binding subjects.

INE transparency module. You can process requests for information, as well as requests for access, correction, cancellation and opposition to personal data, at the offices of the Institute located at Viaducto Tlalpan No. 100, Building C, 1st. Floor, Col Arenal Tepan, Tlalpan City Hall, CP 14610, Mexico City. Business hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday (on business days).
