Ambassador Nick Whittingham returned to Honduras to address Britain’s top priorities, including prosperity, climate change, human rights and the fight against COVID-19.
Notably, in the Gulf Islands, Ambassador Whittingham met with British citizens, representatives of local communities and officials from the Prospera Development Initiative.
The diplomat welcomed the revival of tourism and efforts to generate prosperity for the islanders and counter the effects of the pandemic.
During his visit to Tegucigalpa, Ambassador Whittingham also sought to advance the UK’s goals towards COP26, a global conference on climate change to be held in Glasgow in November this year.
He also met with the Environment Secretary, Lilium Rivera Hipp, and congratulated Honduras for increasing its ambition towards reducing emissions.
In his meeting with Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs Issas Barhona, Whittingham highlighted the UK’s unwavering commitment to continue fighting COVID-19 by providing vaccines to those in need.
