Gmail recently included Google Meet in its app, a program that provides video telephony services, and now, through Workspace (formerly the G group), we can chat and create meeting rooms with any contact who has a registered Google account. Previously, this service was only for professional accounts, these gaps no longer exist today

When you enter Gmail from your mobile phone, you will find two new tabs at the bottom, namely: “Chat” and “Rooms”. What are the advantages of these tools? Simple, it combines many functions in the same platform, and it is very useful for the workplace because it will communicate from Gmail with work teams to exchange ideas through individual or group conversations.

Thus, Gmail chat (Hangouts), which by the way is very limited and directional, will be left out with these new tools. To use it, simply enter the Gmail app from your Android smartphone or iPhone iOS. If you can’t find them, follow these steps:

• We click on the three horizontal lines located in the upper left part of the application.
• A new window will open and we will click on “Settings”, you will find the sprocket icon.
• Now, we find the box that says “Show chat tabs and rooms” and tick it.
• Done, at the bottom of Gmail, the “Mail”, “Chat”, “Rooms” and “Meeting” functions will appear.

It is important to clarify that when you activate spaces or chat rooms, you will also activate the three types of chat status, namely: ‘Automatic’, ‘Do not interrupt’ and ‘Set as absent’. They are found by moving the three horizontal lines on the top left of Gmail.

Finally, if you are not satisfied with this new Gmail presentation or if you consider that it is taking up too much space on your screen, follow the same path we just showed you and uncheck the Show chat tabs and rooms box so that it disappears.
