They deal with value-added tax exemption for Netflix and digital services – patriotism

The proposal, made by Senators in the Patria Querida seat: Fidel Zavala, Stephan Rasmussen, and Georgia Arrúa, indicates that the lack of precise regulations on the matter and the practical difficulty in interpreting public decisions of tax administration has given birth to tax authorities, accountants and taxpayers, more suspicions Of certainty at the time of liquidation and payment of the said tax.

They point out that this confusion arising from a complex and contradictory regulatory text, has in practice led to the emergence of cases of double taxation, in addition to fees imposed outside the law, causing unfair economic damage to taxpayers. They pointed out that the incorrect application of the value-added tax on digital services has affected even the purpose of its existence. They add that this situation must be corrected and cannot be maintained, especially in the current health conditions in which the population uses digital services on a large scale.

They assert that the purpose of stopping the application of the tax for a year is to analyze the mentioned problems and possible solutions to them by the state, through the competent tax authority.
