BACOLOD City – The Negros Press Club (NPC), oldest press club in the country, will induct its officers for 2012-2013 tonight at Bascon Hotel here.

Ariel C. Sebellino, Philippine Press Institute (PPI) executive director and project director for Training Operations and Special Projects and coordinator of the Council of Asian Press Institutes (CAPSI), will be the keynote speaker.

Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Albee Benitez is the inducting officer.

The theme of the 76th induction ceremony is "Converging the Mainstream and Social Media for Sustained Growth and Progress".

Arman P. Toga of the Negros Daily Bulletin and the Philippines News Agency is the new NPC president; Edgar Lucasan of DYRL Abyan Radyo, vice president; Clarence Locsin of Bombo Radyo DYWB, secretary; Aquilino Boy Ciocon of DYAF Radyo Veritas, treasurer; and Chrysee

Samillano of the Visayan Daily Star, auditor.

The board of directors is composed of Adriano Nemes of the Visayan Daily Star, Butch Bacaoco of SunStar-Bacolod, Henry Cestina of RPN DYKB, Merlinda Pedrosa of SunStar-Bacolod, Ranie Azue of Panay News, and Elmer Ubaldo of Watchmen Daily (ex-oficio).

Other speakers will be Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Maranon, Bacolod City

Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Anthony Golez.

Nine new NPC members will also be inducted during the formal ceremony.

One of the scheduled keynote speakers, Mr. Ramon R. Isberto, Smart Communications Public Affairs Group head and PLDT-Smart spokesperson sent word to NPC pres. Toga Wednesday night through his office that he could not come due to an illness.

Isberto's mother also passed away a few days ago.

The master of ceremonies are Manny Canto and Daily Guardian’s Dolly Yasa, NPC past president.
