BACOLOD City – The province of Negros Occidental has better chances of hosting the Palarong Pambansa with the preparations on final stage.
“We are very much prepared for it,” Governor Alfredo Marañon said after attending the briefing of the Department of Education and the Capitol’s Public Information Office for the final preparation of the provincial government’s hosting of the Palarong Pambansa.
With Marañon was DepEd regional director Mildred Garay who also said that she is 90 percent sure that the province will host the Palaro with the city of Bacolod as co-host.
The province expects about 10,000 delegates and guests. Their convergence here will pump prime the local economy.
Garay, meanwhile, said Negros Occidental has better chances than Dumaguete which is also vying to host the event. She explained Dumaguete has not yet started its own preparations.
If Negros Occidental gets the hosting, billeting areas from the main venue of the games which is at the Panaad Park and Stadium is only about 30-40 minutes.
