BACOLOD City – This year’s charter day celebration of Bacolod City kicks off today, June 12, coinciding with the 114th Philippine Independence Day program at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports (BAYS) center here.
The guest of honor of the event is Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
The program will start 6:30 am with a Flag Raising and Wreath-Laying Ceremonies at the Public Plaza to be followed by a program at the BAYS Center.
City officials led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who is expected to arrive from the United States, will open the 74th Charter Anniversary celebration of the city.
Leonardia went to the US as part of Team Pacquiao.
Other activities lined up today include the Opening of the Trade Fair and Carnival and the Exhibit of Kasuotang Pilipino.
June 13 is Employees Day highlighted with the Hataw sa Bacolod City Government Center, Employees’ thanksgiving mass, sports activities, cultural program, Lin-ay & Gino-o sang Bacolod City Government Employees Union and Chinese Lantern Flying.
June 14 is Business Sector and Senior Citizens Day while June 15 is Sangguniang Kabataan Day. On June 16 is the Jobs and Sports Day while June 17 is the Ang Banwahanon Awards Day.
The weeklong celebration’s highlight is on June 18 with Vice President Jejomar Binay as guest speaker.
The program will include the awarding of ceremony where outstanding Bacolod City Employees and outstanding taxpayers will be recognized.
