BACOLOD City – The Manapla police continue to hunt down three suspects in the hold-slay of two hacienda workers Saturday in Brgy. Santa Teresa, Manapla.

S/Insp. Edencio Gregorio, Manapla police chief said, they are eyeing three organized crime groups behind the crime.

Victims Eddie Basa and Julie Biating were watchmen in the said hacienda. Basa’s wife Teresa, who is also the paymaster of the hacienda, was scheduled to give out the salaries of hacienda workers when the three suspects mixed themselves with the crowd.

The unidentified armed suspects shot dead the two farm watchmen and carted away the P110,000 hacienda payroll.

Basa succumbed to gunshot wounds in the chest and head while Biating who tried to help the couple, was also shot in the left leg.

Biating died at the provincial hospital due to heart attack.

Gregorio said Teresa, who was escorted by her husband, was distributing the salaries of the workers of Esteban Lacson at Hacienda Bariw, Brgy. Santa Teresa when the suspects attacked.

Witnesses claimed that they noticed the presence of the three suspects in the place, but did not mind them.

Gregorio said one of three suspects shot Basa in the head to make sure that he was dead.

Policemen recovered from the crime scene three spent shells of a 9mm pistol, a bolo and a pair of slippers.

Gregorio said the three suspects used the Kymco motorcycle owned by the Basa couple as their getaway vehicle.
