Bacolod City – Attorney Ria Arles, daughter of the slain Judge Henry Arles, confirmed their filing yesterday of a Motion for Partial Reconsideration on the resolution of the Department of Justice (DOJ) that dismissed the murder charges against suspects Negros Occidental Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez, his son Mayor John Paul Alvarez of Ilog and Vice Mayor Jerry Tabujara of Cauayan.
Arles said they filed the motion because of the exclusion of the Alvarezes and Tabujara from the murder case while the DOJ has elevated the murder case against the other suspects.

BACOLOD City -- A 41-year-old drug pusher was arrested after handing over a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer Monday afternoon in Bacolod City.

Francisco Dela Cruz sold a P400 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation at Purok Adarna, Barangay 16 of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) anti-drugs unit.

Dela Cruz was in the BCPO's watchlist and was under surveillance for months.

A rape suspect was arrested in his residence Saturday evening in Negros Occidental province.

Dante Arma, 41, married, of Zone 5 Brgy. Bagumbayan, Valladolid town was arrested by the combined forces of the Intelligence Section of Negros Occ. Police Provincial Office and Valladolid Police Station (PS).

He is presently detained at the Valladolid PS.

All the 22 elementary schools and 46 high schools in the city are undergoing a makeover in preparation for the opening of classes next month.

The clean-up and repainting of schools are in line with the implementation of the 10th “Brigada Eskwela” of the Department of Education (DepEd).

Education Program Supervisor Antonio R. Hofileña of DepEd Bacolod City Division yesterday said the "Brigada Eskwela" started on Monday and will end on Saturday.

Almost two years after his retirement and a month after his death, a government prosecutor can finally receive his retirement pay supposed to be used for his medical treatment.

The late former Acting Cadiz City Prosecutor Marcelo Del Pilar and 84 other prosecutors who retired from 2010 to 2011 can finally receive their retirement pay.
