POLICE are still digging deeper into the death of four persons in Dumalag, Capiz whose remains were found Tuesday afternoon.
Reports from the Dumalag police and RMN-Roxas City said the victims were Ramona Gafate, 70, her househelp Wilma Catalan, 27, and the latter’s children Zoe, 4, and Catherine, 3.
Gafate’s nephew and former Dumalag town councilor Martin Frac found the victims inside his aunt’s house at Brgy. Poblacion, Dumalag around 3pm Tuesday although the municipal police headed by Insp. Niño Leonard Amar and Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) investigators believe the Gafate’s were dead since Monday.
The victims were found inside Gafate’s room with the septuagenarian spinster lying on her bed. Inday was found near the foot of the bed and was hugging her children as if to protect them from the attacker.
Initial reports said the victims either died of stab or slash wounds. They also found a bloodied kitchen knife and a suicide note the content of which the police have yet to reveal.
Insp. Amar said there were no signs of forcible entry in Gafete’s house but they have yet to conclude if the incident is a case of cold blooded murder or suicide as the SOCO team are still examining the crime scene as of this writing. (With reports from Joven Anisco of RMN Roxas City)
