BOTH the public and private sectors in Western Visayas are warned of individuals and groups falsely representing Sec. Ramon Jimenez Jr. of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
“We have received reports that there are those calling and even visiting the offices of local government executives, hotels and other tourism establishments using the name of Sec. Jimenez,” said Atty. Helen Catalbas, DOT-6 acting regional director.
“Their modus operandi is requesting for free hotel accommodations or asking for money by using the name of Sec. Jimenez and other DOT officials,” added Catalbas.
DOT-6 urged stakeholders in Western Visayas to be vigilant.
“All tourism stakeholders are advised to report to proper authorities any person posing as an employee of the Department or any of its attached agencies and asking favors or making solicitations,” Catalbas said.
Any similar and suspicious activities can be reported to DOT-6 by calling telephone numbers (33) 337-5411 or (33) 335-0245.
