THE COMMISSION on Elections in Iloilo City is urging eligible voters, especially new voters, to take advantage of the series of satellite registrations that it will conduct in the different districts of this city.
Iloilo City election assistant Jonathan Sayno said as part of their preparations for the May 2013 elections, their pre-election activities have already started such as the registration of voters.
“In the city, we have already established satellite registrations where we will be going to the different districts of the city to reach out to our prospective registrants,” said Sayno, in a radio interview.
After the April 26 to May 7 schedule in Arevalo district, according to Sayno, the registration in the five districts will be conducted on the following dates and venues: Molo District on May 8 to 21 at the Fundidor Gym; Mandurriao district on May 22 to June 1 at the Onate-De Leon Brgy Hall; Jaro District on June 2 to June 26 at the ABC Hall Plaza Jaro; Lapaz district on June 27 to July 7 at the ABC Hall Lapaz Plaza; and Lapuz on July 9 to 17 at the Bo. Obrero Gym.
Registrations in the different districts begin from 8am to 4pm from Mondays to Saturdays including holidays.
However, Sayno clarified that there will be no registration at the city Comelec if the satellite registration is going on.
Requirements for the registration include one valid ID that indicates the name of the applicants and their present address. Those who do not have ID can bring a registered voter or an attestor who can vouch for their identities.
Sayno said the last day for the voters’ registration is set on October 31, 2012.
