Rep. Alfredo Benitez (3rd district, Neg. Occ.), LP-provincial chairman, said the arrival of President Aquino in Negros today is his first sortie in the province for the year and will be a big boost for the LP in the province.
The President is set to swear-in more than 60 new LP members headed by 12 mayors from Lakas-CMD in the province at the Nature’s Village Hotel and Restaurant in Talisay City.
“I personally invited the President and I am happy that he is coming. It’s a big event and big thing for the province,” Benitez said.
More than 120 Presidential Security Group (PSG) personnel are detailed for the President’s arrival aside from the local police and military personnel detailed for security.
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said that he will be at the LP’s activity today because of the arrival of the President. He said that since this is the affair of the LP, he will just meet with the President along with other officials of the United Negros Alliance (UNA) who are set to have a luncheon meeting with Aquino.
Aside from Maranon and other officials of UNA, governors of other provinces in Western Visayas are also set to arrive and meet with the President.
Benitez also said that several congressmen from other places in the region are also expected to come.
