FIVE TEAMS, including first-timer Australia, lead the foreign entrants in the second Philippine Airlines (PAL) Ladies Interclub golf championship, with this year’s theme of “Fairways and Magic” set at the Sta. Barbara Golf Club in Iloilo in September.
The entry of Australia into the fold is good for the event. Its top squad may even pose a stumbling block for defending champion Manila Southwoods’s bid for a back-to-back crown.
As for Sta. Barbara, the 105-year-old course is ready to host the ladies.
Playing at Sta. Barbara will not be dictated by strong drives off the tees, but will require accurate shots to set-up for good approach shots into the undulating greens.
Registration is still open with the tournament open to teams made up of eight players. Format calls for a team to field four players each per day with the top three scores counting. (GMA News)
