Magnolia launches Iloilo Butterscotch Ice Cream

THE launch of Magnolia Butterscotch Ice Cream is a welcome fete for Ilonggos and ice cream lovers out there.

Well, dahlings, the Magnolia Butterscotch is a new way to enjoy the Biscocho Haus’s chewy and moist Butterscotch, which make the sweets very well loved by the locals and tourists themselves.

Present during yesterday’s grand launch was The Original Biscocho Haus’ general manager and son of the owners Gerry Guadarrama, Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias representing Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., Mr. Bong Co representing Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, Iloilo Tourism Officer Bombette Marin and City Tourism Officer Benito Jimena.

The guests were all warmly welcomed by Magnolia Inc. Brand Manager Pinky Armada Custodio.
The San Miguel Corp, the owner of Magnolia, represented by Ms. Custodio, the Biscocho Haus represented by Mr. Guadarrama, and the Province of Iloilo represented by Dr. Banias signed a memorandum of agreement aimed to promote not only the Iloilo Butterscotch in the Magnolia’s Best of the Philippines campaign, but the tourism of the city and province of Iloilo as well.

The ice cream labels also feature Iloilo’s tourist spots, namely: Garin Farm in San Joaquin, Tangke saltwater lagoon and Cabugao Island in Isla de Gigangtes in Carles, and Iloilo’s prized festival, the Dinagyang.

Meanwhile, The Original Biscocho Haus will supply the Guadarrama’s family heirloom butterscotch to Magnolia, the country’s pioneer in ice cream business.

The Best of the Philippines campaign was launched last year in support of the Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign.

It promotes the best product and tourism attractions of the provinces featured, like the Coffee Mangosteen (Davao), Strawberry Shortcake (Benguet), and Kesong Puti (Nueva Ecija), Macapuno Langka (Laguna), Coffee Crumble (Batangas), Ube Queso (Baguio), Mangoes and Cream (Guimaras), Pinipig Pandan (Pampanga), Durian Pastillas (Davao), and Caramel Cashew Fudge (Palawan).

"BETWEEN stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." Viktor E. Frankl

The name Pavlov may make us want to cry "Dogs!" We would call this a Pavlovian response, but that would be oversimplifying the point made by the phrase's namesake, the Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov (1849-1936), stressed Dr. Michael Macrone, author of Eureka! Read more...

“THERE is a lot that happens around the world we cannot control,” American Congressman Jan Schakowsky once said. “We cannot stop earthquakes, we cannot prevent droughts, and we cannot prevent all conflict, but when we know where the hungry, the homeless and the sick exist, then we can help.”

This statement came to mind while reading the report that there more Filipinos who are hungry than ever. Read more...

Safe drinking water - an unfinished agenda

WITHOUT WATER there is no life. Clean drinking water and sanitation are basic human rights – essential to life and to all other rights. Lack of access to clean water and sanitation is a silent crisis that destroys livelihoods and claims more lives through illness than any war claims through guns. Read more...
