Campus Fashionista

AT the cool sprawling area of the metropolis’ lifestyle and shopping haven, Robinsons Place Iloilo, fashion fever ran high when 23 good looking aspiring fashion models set the fashion runway on fire for the much coveted annual search for Robinsons Campus Fashionista 2011.

The buzzing scene charged into high fashion gear when the contest proper kicked off with the contestants – 12 lovely gals and 11 handsome hunks – opened the show proper garbed in Robinsons Fashion lab alumni’s casual chic ensembles and the physique revealing swimwears by the talented Ilonggo fashion designer Jor-el Espina. They paraded before the scrutinizing eyes of stellar judges and the excited shoppers and supporters that cool afternoon, dahlings!

The Board of Judges, who all jetted in from their hectic soiree in Manille, were the first-ever Robinson Campus fashionista winner who carved a name in the international fashion scene when she romped off with the grand tilt of the first Philippines Next Top Model tilt, the statuesque Grendel Mercado; Asia’s Designer of the Year nominee and finalist to project Runway Philippines Season 2; Cherry Veric who likewise showcased his ultra glam Hollywood-themed gowns worn by the female candidates in the formal wear category; Mega Magazine’s Young Designer Competition Finalist and fashion runway director of the movie ‘Temptation Island’, Jeffrey Rogador who also showcased his ultra-sporty inspired formal wears for the eleven aspiring male models. They were joined in by Robinsons Land Corporation’s honchos – Senior Group Property Manager, the muy simpatico Irving Wu, and VP for Complex Administration, the dashing Tommy Lee O.

Clinching the much coveted major, major tilt was the 3rd year Mass Communication major, the statuesque stunner Jhoanne Tañada. While Central Philippine University’s Nursing student Mon Dapasupil and Marketing major student of University of San Agustin Kent Orven Lim tied for the male category as Campus Fashionista 2011 winners, dahlings! Coming close were Ryan and Krizz Ann as runners-up.

The sultry and articulate former Beauty Queen TV host Gail Nuñez along with Robinsons PR officer, the irrepressible Rofel John Parreño, and Campus Fashionista finalist Diana Jainga hosted the elegantly organized competition directed by Ilonggo Fashion designer Bo Parcon.

What’s in a name?

MY PARENTS gave me the name “Henry” after watching the movie “King Henry V,” Laurence Olivier’s film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play.  But since the name was too short, so my mother suggested of adding the name, “Lito” (which means “little” in Spanish).  That’s why I am the only person in the world with the name “Henrylito” as it is a combination of English and Spanish names.
