MAY 31, 2012 was a special day for both Doris A. Mendoza, M.D., FPPS and Iloilo Quotarians as club president Ma. Patricia “Patit” M. Macam and other officers renewed their commitment to serve their service club of choice.
Dr. Mendoza, a Professor of Medicine at West Visayas State University (WVSU) and a Pediatrician/Pediatric Cardiologist by profession, as Installation Speaker, talked about her journey from “Illness to Wellness and Wholeness…” From 2003 – 2005, she survived grave illness. She thanked the Lord for this grace through sharing her story with others. She offered “PRAY”: Praise the Lord; Rejoice in the Lord; Abide in Jesus Word and Yield yourselves to God! and “NEW START”: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunlight, Temperance, Air, Rest and Trust in the Creator! as her secrets to longevity. With the gift of friendship and passion to share, she extolled Iloilo Quotarians to continue their journey of being more Fit for Life and do God’s work.
A former Quotarian herself, Doris urged her sisters to honor God with their time, talent, treasure, temple and testimony! For QY 2012 – 2013, President Patit and her team are determined to continue service projects for the hearing impaired and disadvantaged women and children.
The installation of officers was presided by Quota 41st District Governor Emilie L. Simon with the assistance of District Secretary Treasurer Dette D. Galang.
Past District Governor Lea A. Celis, Past Presidents and the membership continue to give support to banner projects like the Leganes Resource Center for the Deaf ( LRCD ), “ Silip Tenga, “ and the club’s newest service project, Children Health Improvement and Literacy Drive ( CHILD ) which serves Bgy.
Camalig, Jaro, Iloilo City in partnership with the Jaro PNP through SPO2 Alona Layson and barangay officials. This new project is among the calendared activities of the DWC Committee under Quotarian Janet Dillomes.
