PERSONS with disabilities (PWDs) could be partners in the development of our communities.
This was stressed by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) chief Dr. Neneth Q. Pador in her message at the culminating activity of the 34th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week held at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Thursday.
Pador said the theme of this year’s celebration “Mainstreaming persons with disability in economic development” is very relevant and “crucial not only for persons with disabilities but for all members of society.”
Part of the activity was the conduct of voters’ education for PWDs with Iloilo Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Elizabeth Doronila as resource person.
Pador said the voters education is important considering that majority of the PWDs do not exercise their right to vote during elections.
Also tackled were the concerns and issues on employment conducted by representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment.
Pador also cited Governor Arthur Defensor’s all-out support to the programs of PWDs.
She said the Governor has always been very supportive of all the activities and programs for the welfare of the PWDs.
Also present in the activity was Mario Abaygar, vice chair of Regional Council on Disability Affairs. (ECGarcia)
