ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The firemen of Capiz are set to donate blood to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in Capiz.
The Office of the Fire Marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Roxas City will facilitate this “heroic deed,” as PRC would say, today, August 4 at Hercor College.
The activity is in line with the BFP’s 21st founding anniversary.
“We expect about 100 junior and senior criminology students to donate blood,” said BFP-Roxas City Public Information Officer FO2 Marlon B. Garbo.
Garbo said the Hercor College spearheaded the activity.
“There are people who always need blood. Besides, donating blood keeps the donor healthy,” Garbo said.
The mass blood donation every BFP’s founding anniversary at the school has been in place for the past couple of years.
During the culmination program for the 2012 Blood Donors’ Month, PRC-Capiz gave BFP a citation for facilitating the bloodletting activity at Hercor College and Capiz State University last year.
Both schools also received an award from PRC.
Other foundation anniversary activities include a mass at the Roxas City Fire Station that was followed by a motorcade around the major streets of the city today.
BFP was established with the enactment of Republic Act 6975, otherwise known as the “Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990.”
The operation of the BFP started on August 2, 1991, as a distinct agency of the government. (PIA)
