The Philippine National Police on Tuesday said it expects the mobilizations related to the testimony of impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona before the Senate impeachment court to be peaceful.

PNP spokesman Senior Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr. said they have not monitored any security threat related to Corona's testifying, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

Cerbo also said the Manila Police District and Southern Police District have already ironed out their security plans for the event.

But he said the PNP expects both pro- and anti-Corona rallies to take place especially at the Supreme Court in Manila and the Senate in Pasay City.

Corona is expected to take the witness stand at Tuesday's trial, which starts at 2 p.m.

Earlier Tuesday, many of his supporters started gathering at the Senate grounds as well as the Supreme Court premises. –KG, GMA News
