SM City Iloilo celebrated National Children’s Book Reading Month at SM City Iloilo last July 17, 2012 Event Center.

Spearheaded by the SM Cares Committee on Youth and Children Welfare, BDO foundation, Vibal Publishing, National Bookstore and Gawad Kalinga Iloilo, the activity was attended by students from  Severo Abeto Elementary School of Sooc Arevalo and Central Philippine University, who listened to invited storytellers Councilor Jason Gonzales, Executive Asst. to the Mayor Mathilde Octavio and Joana Christine Rabulan of BDO.

The event aims to promote love for reading to children and to promote the mall as a place for learning.

There was a war movie titled “They were Expendable” that tells the story of a unit in WWII that was dispensed with as a sacrifice for a greater and higher good – winning the war.
