ROXAS City, Capiz – Tourist arrivals in Capiz for 2016 continues to rise.

According to the partial 2016 Visitors Annual Report of the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), total guest nights hit 114,907 while guests who checked in totaled 78,911.

Total number of rooms occupied is at 43,876 so far while the number of rooms from January to September 2016 is at 6,738.

According to PTCAO, total number of rooms is the actual physical count of rooms while guest night includes the number of times the guest checked in plus their stay for at least one night.

The number of rooms occupied is the number of times the rooms were occupied for a certain period of time like a month or the actual period.

"This trend is the result of the effort of the provincial government of Capiz under Governor Tony Del Rosario and the private sector to provide great accommodation for visitors," said Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs (PTCA) Officer Alphonsus Tesoro.

Eco-tourism, culture, and seafood products are some of the reasons why Capiz is becoming one of the favorite tourist destinations this year, Tesoro explained.

MICE (Meetings, Incentive travel, Conventions, and Exhibitions) tourism and institutionalized events such as the Provincial Tourism Month, National Arts Month, and CAPIZtahan (the annual charter celebration of Capiz) contributed to the numbers.
